What strategies do you use to cope with negative feelings?
- Sigh as heavy as you can. Sigh loudly that someone next to you would hear it under their earphones.
- Tell yourself “it’s probably not their day.” We don’t get to be ourselves 100% of the time. So instead of throwing that slap, think about the moments you didn’t get slapped when you were not being your 100% self.
- Smile and walk away. Some people are just not worth your time.
- Drink cold water! This can aid with hotheadedness (not sure if it’s clinically-proven, but just think about it as a placebo!)
- Sing something relatable. Mask your frustration with song lyrics.
- Talk a walk or do some squats. You need something to put all of that energy to.
- Take a nap. Nothing’s better than letting your mind and body rest and let the anger subside naturally.
